God of all mercy,
your Son proclaimed good news to the poor:
release to the captives, and freedom to the oppressed:
anoint us with your Holy Spirit
and set all people free
to praise you in Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect for Epiphany 3
The season of Epiphany continues as Jesus reveals that he is the long promised light in the darkness. What an image to choose for his first sermon! He is saying that he has come to fulfil God's promise to his people at the time of Isaiah. It is a bold revelation and a beautiful one. We all need light in our lives, especially when the news makes scary listening or when life seems to be tough for us. Jesus can shine his light in any darkness.
Enjoy pondering how Jesus lightens darkness - your own and the world's.
Every blessing,
Revd Katrina (Vicar)
