Baptism
|
Thank you for taking the time to read this page. It is a great honour to be asked to perform a baptism as we welcome a family in to the family of the church. We are very aware that the birth of a child is a great gift from God and something to be celebrated. God wants all children to grow up to know him as their loving Heavenly Father, and to be assured of their salvation through the death of Christ.
As you consider baptism remember please remember it is not a one-off event but the start of a journey for your whole family in which you will grow in your knowledge of God and his grace. Take a few moments to write down the reasons why you want your child baptised. It is very important that we ensure your integrity and thus we require you to spend some time considering who Jesus is and why he came. This means that when you make the statements required of you in the service you can say them with integrity and proper understanding of what you are saying. We would expect that a family would be worshipping with us regulaly for 2 months prior to the service. 5. We would expect a family to be coming to church on a regular basis prior to baptism. 6. Baptisms only ever take place in the main morning service and never take place on Saturdays or out of the service context which is required by Canon Law.
7. Prior to baptism we expect to see a family in church on a regular basis for a couple of months.
