Weddings

First of all congratulations on making this important decision, but why are you getting married? 

This is the question we will ask you to investigate together as you come to us and start the process of preparing for your wedding.  The Bible suggests that there are three reasons for marriage:

1.  So that children can be born and nurtured.

2.  So that people can live within a faithful, intimate and trusting relationship.

3.  That society can be appropriately ordered and does not descend into sexual chaos.

When you get married, your focus will change from the things that make you happy to the things that make your partner happy.  You will no longer be able to be selfish and self-centred.  Your requirement, as stated in Ephesians 5, is to seek to serve each other in an all-giving way.

As part of your marriage preparation we will require you to attend a Christianity Explored or Alpha Course in your local Church.  We do not believe you can marry in Church if you do not understand the basic tenets of the Christian faith.  Our aim, during the preparation for your wedding will be to encourage and enable you to enter into married life fully and not become one of the ever-increasing divorce statistics.

Please note the following:

1. If you do not live in the parish  you wish to marry in you will have to contact you local vicar to have your banns read (cost £44 in 2010)

2. There will be an extra charge for allowing you to video the service.

3. You will have to attend a marriage preparation course

4. We have to allow another church to use the buildings at Sywell and Overstone so dates may be restricted.
