Finance & Giving

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times having all that you need you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

All of the work in the benefice with young people and families, with the elderly and all the work in our communities is dependent on the gracious and generous giving of the church family and a few others. We would be glad of your partnership in the work of God in our villages through your giving of time and money and through your prayer. Our Children and Families worker is funded seperately from the MOSH Trust

Where does the money come from

The majority of the funds we have are given week by week by the regular members of our church, and from giving by visitors. We also support some of our work through "MOSH" (the Mears Ashby, Overstone, Sywell and Hardwick Children's Workers Trust). We are able to reclaim tax on many of our donations and we have received gifts through legacies made in people's wills. The stipend (salary) of the Vicar is paid from central funds and we make a payment to cover this cost. Any other monies come from occasional fund raising.

How do we spend it?

Our highest expenditure is the Parish Share - the sum we pay to the Diocese of Peterborough which in 2009 will mean each person worshiping with us will be asked to pay £12.00 per week, followed closely by the cost of maintaining our beautiful ancient buildings. We receive no help from the central church funding bodies or the government towards the cost of the buildings.

Our money is spent across a wide area of ministry and the spending is monitored by the church councils (P.C.C). The accounts are published each year and we always attempt to ensure that we honour God in the way we use the money He gives us.

How to give

Regular giving

This is the most helpful way to give and it assists our planning. You can give by standing order through your bank you can download a form and send it to the Revd Duncan Beet or give it to one of our treasurers. You can also give through the Diocese of Peterborough who will recover your tax on each payment and pay it to us directly.

One offs

If you want to give to our work please send a cheque marked with the name of the church followed by " P.C.C." to the Revd Duncan Beet, The Vicarage, 46 Wellingborough Road, Mears Ashby, NN6 0DZ.

Being Tax Efficent

If you pay tax in the UK the chancellor will give us back a sum equivalent to the tax you pay at the basic rate so please fill in a Gift Aid Form which you can download from this site . You could also give through your employers GAYE payroll giving scheme and you can claim the tax back, if you are a 40% tax payer, in your returns.

Legacies

Please consider remembering us in your will. Your solicitor will advise you in these matters in relations to the wording of the approprate clauses or ring the Revd Duncan Beet for more information.

Here are our most recent accounts that will help you see how much it costs to run your local church.
